Ubisoft will not "abandon" The Division 1, still supporting parallel with The Division 2

Good news for those who don't want to break up with The Division: Ubisoft will still support parallel games with the second version coming out next year.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is one of the best-selling new game brands released in the current console generation. Now, more than 2 years after its launch in March 2016, the series will receive a sequel on March 15, 2019.

Speaking to GamesIndustry, David Polfeldt (CEO at Massive Entertainment) said that although many of The Division players will consider checking the sequel, two games can still be supported in the future.

With a 3-year gap between The Division versions. I think there will be a lot of fun to try through a similar mechanism but in a new way. I'm pretty sure people are curious about that.

Part of me thought The Division should be maintained and The Division 2 would play the role of an alternative.

Besides, an Ubisoft spokeswoman also confirmed The Division will be "long-term" support. This is especially meaningful if the current player base does not migrate to the second version.
Polfeldt also said that the manufacturer was surprised by the fact that The Division seemed unaffected by new releases from competitors. In fact, the game is still growing steadily until today.

“I was mentally prepared to see the impact on the number of players. But it's quite surprising that gamers still experience The Division a lot. In fact, the current player base is larger than the previous 6 months.

“We are not affected by what other titles are doing. It was a bit of a surprise for me, because I think that when a big product comes out, it's clear that players will play more than one game, leading to a change in the amount of users over time. But it is still growing well. It is a mystery to me, but the situation is still going well. ”
With The Division 2, the game is still experienced from a third-person perspective in favor of survival actions. The context took place six months after its predecessor in Washington DC, in which a civil war between survivors and destructive gangs broke out. Players can work together to complete quests and take part in Raid trips of up to 8 people. Readers can check out The Division 2's new trailer below:
